Fundraiser for Thackley's Stricken Captain
20th March, 2012
Thackley will be raising money next month for their captain Rob Morgan who could be out of action for 18 months after a horrific knee injury.
It happened during their Baris NCEL Premier Division match with Staveley Miners Welfare in December where it is thought all four ligaments in his knee may have become separated.
His injuries have required one operation so far with another scheduled towards the end of this year.
Then, if all goes well, Rob can be expected to return to light training in twelve months time and to playing regular football in August 2013.
The club have come together to organise a night with John and Nobby Stiles that will take place on Saturday 14th April at their Dennyfield ground, starting at 8pm.
Nobby is, of course, well known for being part of the England World Cup winning side of 1966 whilst his son, John, played alongside Thackley manager Vinnie Brockie at Leeds United and Doncaster Rovers.
It will be a very entertaining night with a look back at football's past with humour and plenty of anecdotes.
There will also be a sale of memorabilia, raffle prizes and a pie and pea supper.
Tickets cost ?15 each and are available in the clubhouse on matchdays or by phone on 01274 615571.
