Free Entry at Emley
20th January, 2012
AFC Emley are throwing their doors open for Saturday's Baris NCEL Division One game with Appleby Frodingham with free entry to all spectators.
The gesture is a response to the team's poor run of form in recent months and a disappointing performance against Worksop Parramore two weeks ago.
Club Chairman John Whitehead commented: "The game was against Worksop Parramore and our seeming capitulation in the second half was abysmal and unacceptable.
"The players themselves were not happy and acknowledge that their display on the day was woeful.
"As a sign of their commitment to this football club and its supporters, the players have volunteered to sponsor the next home game.
"This effectively means that all home and away spectators will be admitted to the Welfare Ground free of charge.
"As a club we would also like to encourage new supporters up to our games to enjoy the excellent facilities here and build our fanbase."
Scunthorpe based Appleby are currently rooted to the bottom of the table and were defeated 4-0 by Emley back in August.
Despite this, Emley boss Darren Hepworth is taking nothing for granted, saying: "We will not underestimate Appleby Frodingham - they have recently signed a few players and, on their day, any team is capable of taking points - they proved that last season.
"We need to be professional and determined in our approach.
"I'm still positive that we have the talent and focus to push on and get the most out of the rest of this season.
"Lads have responded that way as well - I see that in training and we have a fantastic spirit in the dressing room.
"We need to take it onto the pitch and show our supporters - consistently in every game."
