Baris NCEL Review - Season 2011/12 #37

19th February, 2012

Billy Logan's goal five minutes from time returned Bridlington Town to the top of the Baris NCEL Premier Division table on Saturday.

It was a tight game for them at home to mid-table Liversedge, though, with Logan's strike being the only goal of the afternoon at the Neil Hudgell Law Stadium.

The Seasiders go above Retford United who fell to a surprise 4-0 defeat at Brighouse Town.

Tom Matthews' second-half hat-trick put the Badgers to the sword after Daniel Hull had opened the scoring for the home side who stay in eighth spot.

Staveley Miners Welfare and Winterton Rangers kept their title challenges very much alive.

Staveley remain in third ahead of Winterton on goal difference after their 2-1 victory at home to Nostell Miners Welfare, Adam Houghton with the winner in the 80th minute.

Rangers defeated the side just below them, visitors Scarborough Athletic, 2-0.

Despite taking an early lead through Nick Thompson, Tadcaster Albion saw their Premier Division hopes take a blow with a 2-1 defeat at Thackley.

Luke Hudson levelled for the hosts before half-time and Liam Moore struck the winner on 77.

Seventh-placed Parkgate also dropped points as they drew 0-0 at Long Eaton United.

Bottom side Selby Town's misery continued with a 4-0 home defeat to Arnold Town, Ryan Whitehurst's brace helping the Eagles to a comfortable victory.

Liam Gaughan and Craig Morley struck in the last five minutes to grab Armthorpe Welfare a 2-0 win at Lincoln Moorlands Railway whilst Pickering Town were 2-1 victors at home to Barton Town Old Boys.

A Steve Lyon hat-trick maintained Pontefract Collieries' six point lead at the top of Division One after their 3-0 win over visitors Bottesford Town.

Handsworth keep on their coattails, though, as they pummelled Albion Sports 6-0 with Sam Smith also netting three times in the biggest home victory of the day.

Third placed Glasshoughton Welfare won 2-0 at Hemsworth Miners Welfare, through goals from Lee Bennett and Liam Radford, to stay seven points behind Ponte but with four games in hand on their local rivals.

Worksop Parramore remain fourth despite their game at Hallam being postponed.

Teversal went goal crazy at basement outfit Appleby Frodingham, winning 8-2, with seven different scorers finding the net.

Rossington Main moved up into the top six with a 3-0 home victory over Grimsby Borough, Liam Charlton opening the scoring in the first half before William McGhie and Lewis Hilton made sure of the three points after the interval.

Dinnington Town won 3-1 at AFC Emley whilst Louth Town were victorious by the same scoreline at home to Askern Villa and Yorkshire Amateur beat visitors Eccleshill United by a single goal.
