Baris NCEL Review - Season 2011/12 #36
16th February, 2012
Congratulations to Staveley Miners Welfare who have become the first Baris NCEL side in six years to reach the Sixth Round of the FA Vase.
A brace from Joe Thornton secured a 2-0 home victory over East Midlands Counties League outfit Oadby Town on Wednesday night.
Staveley will now host either St Ives Town or Gresley in the last eight - the stage last reached by Pickering Town in the 2005/06 season.
Barton Town Old Boys are through to the Third Round of the League Cup after their 5-0 victory at Albion Sports.
Richard Medcalf and Danny Buttle struck twice each whilst Scott Phillips also got on the scoresheet as the Premier Division side overcame the Division One promotion hopefuls.
A trip to Worsbrough Bridge Athletic now awaits the Swans at the next stage.
Nostell Miners Welfare and Armthorpe Welfare picked up a point each in a 1-1 draw in their Premier Division clash.
But, it was Armthorpe who left it late with James Walker's equaliser coming six minutes from the end.
That was after James Eyles had given the hosts the lead just before the hour mark.
Carl Haslam's winner ten minutes into injury time saw Retford United progress in Notts Senior Cup, winning 2-1 at home to Wollaton in the Third Round.
And, Glasshoughton Welfare won 5-1 in a friendly victory over visitors Kinsley Boys with Nathan Dixon, Lee Bennett, Josh Moore, Dominic Blair and Andy Catton all netting.
