Baris NCEL Review - Season 2011/12 #34
1st February, 2012
Barton Town Old Boys and Grimsby Borough booked their places in the Final of the Baris NCEL President's Cup and Wilkinson Sword Trophy, respectively, on Tuesday.
Richard Medcalf's fourth minute strike was enough for Barton as they went through 1-0 at home to Tadcaster Albion and will now face Handsworth.
Alex Cusack struck twice for Albion Sports but they were comfortably beaten 5-2 at Borough with Nathan Emson, Josh Fuller, Lee Stephenson, Andrew Taylor and James Deeming finding the net for the hosts.
They will take on either Louth Town or Shirebrook Town for the unique Wilkinson Sword Trophy.
Staveley Miners Welfare came from behind to become the fourth team to reach the last eight of the League Cup.
It was home side Teversal who broke the deadlock through a Colin Cockerill penalty on 37 minutes.
But, Ryan Damms levelled, also from twelve yards, on the hour mark before two late goals from Simon Barraclough and Damms again saw the Premier Division side through.
Bridlington Town moved to within three points of Premier Division leaders Retford United with a 4-2 win at Hall Road Rangers.
They were two goals down as the hosts scored either side of half-time through Martin Thacker and James Atkinson.
But, Craig Hogg and Nathan Cook restored parity by the 65th minute and Billy Logan and James Bennett struck in the last five minutes to take the points.
Retford, meanwhile, won 4-0 in a home friendly against Ilkeston with Adam Scott's brace added to by goals from Carl Haslam and Oliver Chappell.
And, despite going ahead through Craig Wilkinson on ten minutes, Armthorpe Welfare bowed out of the West Riding County Cup, losing 3-1 at Bradford Park Avenue in the Quarter-Finals.
