Baris NCEL Review - Season 2011/12 #30
15th January, 2012
Both leaders of the Baris NCEL Premier Division and Division One won on a Saturday where the league programme was disrupted due to a cold snap.
Half of the eighteen scheduled matches were called off due to frozen pitches but there was still enough excitement in the remaining nine games to warm the heart.
Retford United are now six points clear at the top of the Premier Division after Chris Baugh's injury time winner earned a 2-1 home victory over Long Eaton United.
The Badgers had gone behind to a Matt Weightman opener just before the interval but Warren Hatfield levelled with twenty minutes remaining, paving the way for the dramatic finale.
Staveley Miners Welfare are up into second after a Ryan Damms penalty and a Simon Barraclough strike either side of half-time saw them win 2-0 at basement side Selby Town.
They go above Tadcaster Albion who had to come from two goals down to draw 2-2 at Brighouse Town.
The hosts were ahead through goals from James Sutcliffe and Danny Nadiole but Steven Jeff and Nick Thompson ensured the spoils were shared.
First-half goals from Robert Sanderson and Liam Slack kept Winterton Rangers in the top five as they beat visitors Thackley, 2-0.
Sixth-placed Scarborough Athletic were 3-1 winners at home to Pickering Town, Ryan Blott netting twice, once from the spot, and Adam Lee also getting on the scoresheet for the Seadogs whilst David Hartas scored for the away side.
And, Willis Francis' goal in the opening minute was enough for Arnold Town as they beat Maltby Main 1-0 at Eagle Valley.
In Division One, Pontefract Collieries were 5-1 winners at Askern Villa to move four points clear at the summit, thanks to a Steve Lyon brace and goals from James McDaid, Greig McGrory and Liam Ormsby.
A Rob Collins hat-trick secured a 3-2 victory at home for Teversal over Yorkshire Amateur and Bottesford Town drew 2-2 at Grimsby Borough.
