Retford United reduced Sheffield's lead at the top of the Premier Division to four points with a 3-0 home win over Liversedge.

The Badgers got off to the perfect start as Mark Ashton found the net in the opening seconds.

Mick Godber added a second just after the interval whilst Ben Chambers grabbed the third with seventeen minutes remaining.

With confirmation that at least three clubs will be going up into the UniBond League, the race is hotting up as well behind the top two.

Carlton Town are the new side in third place after a 5-2 win at Mickleover Sports continued their surge up the table.

A Darry Thomas brace in the first-half, one of which was a penalty, plus strikes from Aidan Brady and Martin Ball had them four-up before Sports started a mini-revival through Rob Spencer and Corin Holness.

Dean Gent added a fifth for Carlton, though, in injury time to leapfrog over Garforth Town in the table.

Selby Town remain fifth after a goalless draw at home to Pickering Town saw them lose a little ground but they still have an outside chance of promotion as do Glapwell who defeated visitors Brodsworth Welfare 4-0.

Two from Ant Lynam and one from Ian Brown had put the game beyond doubt against the Premier Division?s bottom side by the break.

Nathan Hollingworth added the fourth with seven minutes to go.

Sutton Town were also clear winners as they beat visitors Thackley 5-1, as two from Adam Lee plus one each from Craig Mitchell, Matt Fisher and Dennis Simms saw them claim a very comfortable victory.

But, the most dramatic game came at Plumpton Park where Eccleshill United and Long Eaton United shared the spoils in an eight-goal thriller.

Matthew Hallam put Long Eaton ahead before Gareth Hamlet equalised on 33 minutes.

Parity was only restored for a few seconds as David Wilkinson put the visitors back in front and added a third five minutes later.

Eccleshill, though, turned the match on its head with three goals in twelve minutes in the second period to lead 4-3, starting with an own goal on 70 minutes and then strikes from Hamlet and Andrew Patterson.

But, Long Eaton earned themselves a point through a Scott Downie strike on 84 minutes.

Parkgate's lead at the top of Division One has grown one point to six after a 1-1 draw at third-placed South Normanton Athletic.

The hosts had gone ahead through a Mark Cooper own goal on 25 minutes but Brian Cusworth equalised just before half-time.

Teversal pulled away from the bottom three with a 3-0 home win over the side in sixteenth place, Yorkshire Amateur.

Staveley Miners Welfare were 2-0 winners at home to Gedling Town thanks to a first-half brace from Lee Naughton, whilst Worsbrough Bridge and Tadcaster Albion played out a goalless draw at Park Road.

A 25th-minute goal from Richard Carrick saw Garforth Town claim a League Cup Semi-Final place at the expense of visitors Parkgate on Thursday night.

Their single goal victory sets up a home tie against Winterton Rangers in the last four.

And, Maltby Main were beaten 1-0 in a friendly at Muglet Lane against Conference North side, Worksop Town, Luke Staton with the goal for the Tigers in first-half stoppage time.
