NCEL Weekend Preview

2nd March, 2007

The chasing pack has a chance to close the gap on Premier Division leaders Sheffield this weekend.

Dave McCarthy's side, who are ten points clear, are without a game so their closest rivals, Retford United, will look to keep the pressure on and claim their sixth straight victory at Armthorpe Welfare.

It will be a tough trip for the Badgers, though, against a Welfare side who are fourteenth but have improved of late.

Third-placed Maltby Main are at home to Long Eaton United whilst the side below them, Garforth Town, hope to stretch their unbeaten run to seven matches as they host Selby Town.

Two of the top six sides clash at Station Road as Mickleover Sports entertain Carlton Town whilst Glapwell, who are seventh, come up against Brodsworth Welfare.

The visitors to Hall Corner will be looking to end a run of 26 matches without a win that has seen them rooted to the bottom of the table.

The side just above Brodsworth, Shirebrook Town, travel to Glasshoughton Welfare.

Two mid-table sides who have seen their seasons get better of late clash at the Clayborn Ground as Liversedge, unbeaten in six, entertain Sutton Town who have not lost in their last five.

And, Hallam go to Pickering Town whilst Arnold Town host Eccleshill United.

Meanwhile, the runaway top two sides in Division One are at home as leaders Parkgate look to make it fifteen games undefeated as they host Staveley Miners Welfare.

Winterton welcome fourth-placed South Normanton Athletic to West Street in what is the division's top tussle of the day.

Nostell Miners Welfare, who are third, go to AFC Emley whilst fifth-placed Lincoln Moorlands are at Dinnington Town.

At the wrong end of the table, there is a nervy clash between the bottom two as they both fight to avoid the dreaded wooden spoon.

It takes place at Oxford Street where Rossington Main entertain the side above them, Yorkshire Amateur.

Gedling Town go to Pontefract Collieries whilst Tadcaster Albion host Hall Road Rangers and Borrowash Victoria travel to Worsbrough Bridge in the rest of the Division One action.
