Temporary Directions to Wrens Ground
19th August, 2009
Due to roadworks in the centre of Rainworth, directions to the Welfare Ground have been temporarily altered.
The B6020 Southwell Road East is scheduled to be closed for six weeks meaning that traffic entering the village from the west (Mansfield and A617) CANNOT access the ground via the centre of the village.
During this time, traffic along the A617 to the south of Mansfield should continue ahead at the roundabout onto the dual carriageway, continue through some traffic lights where the ground comes into view on the right, and up the hill to a roundabout where you should turn right, then right again at the mini-island down Kirklington Road to the ground entrance.
If coming via Mansfield on the A6191, turn left at the island onto the dual carriageway then proceed as above.
If leaving the northbound M1 at j27 (A608), follow Mansfield signs as far as Hollinwell Corner traffic lights on A611 (edge of Kirkby-in-Ashfield) then turn right onto B6020 via Ravenshead and Blidworth, bearing right as you leave Blidworth for Rainworth.
Down a long straight hill please observe the speed limit (a child was killed by a speeding motorist here), and at T-junction at bottom of hill turn left then immediately right at lights to ground.
Traffic coming westbound along the A617 from the A614 is not affected. Ignore the road works signs prior to the roundabout and turn left to proceed into the village as normal. The works are beyond the ground entrance from this direction.
