Brier Leaves Sedge For New NCEL Team
20th May, 2008
Liversedge's ex-Reserve and U19's Manager Mark Brier has become First Team Manager at Brighouse Town who are set to join the NCEL next season.
A former Halifax Town Centre of Excellence coach, Mark runs his own coaching school and has seen success with players coming through his elite junior coaching set up to go to Liverpool, Blackburn, Leeds Utd, Bradford City and Huddersfield.
He took over the Chairman's role at Clayborn last season on a temporary basis but was set to manage Sedge's reserves next season when the opportunity to take over at the St Giles' Road outfit cropped up.
He will be assisted by Darren Attwood, a former West Brom apprentice and Torquay United player.
"I've enjoyed my time at Liversedge and I'm leaving a good club in good shape to push for promotion next season with the situation on and off the pitch looking sound.
"Some people have asked why I wanted to move to a club at a lower level but it's the challenge on the football side that I couldn't pass up."
"I wish Sedge all the best and they have wished me well also.
Brier added: "It's a massive job that will need to be done in stages, as the club is building off the pitch to improve as required for ground grading but we're looking forward to getting started.
"The football facilities at Brighouse Town are excellent and there's a good committee that have built the club up steadily over the last few years.
"I've spoken to quite a few players and will be speaking to many more in the close season."
