Major Changes at Basford

Basford United have announced an overhaul of the club's backroom structure with some significant changes to its administration for the new season.
Long-time chairman of the football club and shareholder Neville Sheldon will take on the position of life president and will continue his very important work for the Nottingham based outfit.
Last season's director of football and shareholder Chris Munroe steps up to take on the overall club chairman role.
Director and shareholder Neil McGowan remains at the forefront of the club in the position of club secretary.
Basford are also delighted to welcome ex-Eastwood Town and most recently Carlton Town secretary Tracie Witton to Basford as general & match secretary. Tracie takes over full responsibility for the secretarial duties of the club including registrations, contracts and is the first point of contact for their respective first team at County FA and their respective Step 5 league.
The club also welcomes Neil Swift to the position of club groundsman.
The committee also expect to announce a significant change in the near future with regard to the catering and bar management side with a view to taking this full-time, to cater for the full-time football academy.
Commenting on the changes, Chris Munroe said: "Myself and Neil would like to express our sincere thanks to Nev for his tireless work and funding of the football club. He has and will be a key person at the football club and continue to have significant input. I am delighted and very honoured to take this role in what is without question a great football club. The club has not only reached an excellent level of football but continues to be geared for growth at time when so many clubs are failing."
Also commenting as to the other changes, he said: "We are delighted to recruit Tracie who has a first class pedigree and will do a fantastic job for us in this key role. With regard to the appointment of Neil Swift who is regarded as one of the best groundsmen in the East Midlands, this is again a major coup for the football club. It is no coincidence that the quality of the Greenwich Avenue main pitch showed a marked improvement when Neil and his team started working on it. Now, having his expertise on a full time basis is a great move."
Munroe now feels the backroom side is close to completion to provide the support for the progression of the first team and will plot a significant assault to make the progression to the Evo-Stik in the forthcoming seasons.
Whilst it will not be easy, Munroe is confident with the current first team management and the new infrastructure, the pieces are in place to drive Basford forward over the next three years

Basford in Running for £100,000 Windfall

Courtesy of the Budweiser Club Futures programme, Toolstation NCEL Premier Division side Basford United is set to go head-to-head with seven other clubs for a chance of securing ?100,000 worth of funding in a fans? vote.
The fortunes of the side have already changed significantly, following the announcement last month that the club had successfully secured ?50,000 through the programme. This funding will make a huge reduction on their carbon footprint as they review their electricity setup.
A further ?100,000 would transform the club even further, allowing it to repair the floodlights on the training pitch. Further to this, the Super Grant would help fund the installation of an irrigation system drawing off the local River Leen, in a bid to bolster the club's ecological credentials.

Hendrie Signs for Basford

Toolstation NCEL Premier Division side Basford United have announced the signing of ex-Aston Villa and England central midfielder Lee Hendrie.
United manager Martin Carruthers completed the signing today in Birmingham and commented: "Delighted to sign such a high calibre player in Lee for Basford.
"Lee will bring the best out of the group and without question is a major addition with an ability to get goals from midfield and provide great energy in the middle of the park."
General manager Chris Munroe commented also: "This signing highlights the ambition and the appetite to increase the profile of Basford United FC and we expect the continued addition of quality of players to arrive in the near future to supplement a developing squad."

Basford To Receive Budweiser Boost

Budweiser have announced Basford United as one of eight recipients of a ?50,000 grant as part of its Club Futures programme.
Budweiser Club Futures, which is in its second season, will help non-league side Basford United, who play in?Toolstation Northern Counties East Football League Premier Division, make a huge reduction on their carbon footprint as they review their electricity setup. Further to this an irrigation system drawing off the local River Leen will be installed in a bid to bolster the club's ecological credentials.
The ambition of Budweiser Club Futures is to help clubs to help themselves, with the grant recipients using their funding to improve their general facilities and make their club more financially sustainable. These funds support the clubs to be at the heart of their communities, helping to ensure the future of the beautiful game at the grassroots level across the UK.
Budweiser Club Futures has also been supported by the Football Foundation, who helped decide the grant recipients, and The FA Facilities and Investment team, who provided advice and guidance to the non-league clubs applying. The programme has now invested a total of ?1million directly into 16 non-league football clubs in the UK over the last two seasons.
Basford United is now in with a chance of winning an additional ?100,000 Super Grant which will top up their funding to a total of ?150,000 following a vote by football fans on Facebook. The voting opens in January 2014 on the Budweiser UK and FA Cup Facebook pages*.

New Pavilion Well on Course

Despite a very slight delay, Basford United officials expect to unveil the new changing complex fit for use at their Greenwich Avenue ground before the end of next month.
Basford have targeted to go live on August 31st, currently the date for the home Premier Division game against Garforth Town.
But, if Basford can see off Holwell Sports in their FA Cup Extra Preliminary Round qualifier, a tie in the next round against either Quorn or Holbrook Sports will take preference on that date.
With the new clubhouse and brand new permanent perimeter fence around the main pitch area, it is exciting times at the Greenwich Avenue sports complex, home of the NCEL newcomers.
