Shock at Death of Young Keeper
12th June, 2014
Lincoln Moorlands Railway have been left stunned by the sudden death of their young keeper Haydn Green.
The 21-year-old, who played in goal for Moorlands towards the end of last season, suffered an asthma attack on Tuesday, less than 24 hours after he had posted on his Twitter account that he was looking forward to his holiday in Kavos.
Haydn was captain of the development side at Marshalls Cricket Club in Gainsborough and had appeared in their first team match at the weekend.
The club's matches this weekend have been cancelled as a mark of respect whilst a message on their Twitter feed said: "Haydn was our team-mate, our midweek captain, our friend. Words can't do justice to how much he'll be missed. Sleep tight buddy."
Meanwhile, a statement from Lincoln Moorlands Railway said: "Our thoughts are with you Haydn and also with your family."
