All change at Carnegie
30th April, 2019
East Yorkshire Carnegie will be known as East Hull FC from the start of the 2019/20 after an application to change the Toolstation NCEL Division One club's name was approved by the East Riding County FA.
There will also be a change of chairman at the club that has been in the NCEL since promotion from the Humber Premier League in 2017 as Dave Reader has announced that he is stepping down.
His successor will be Jamie Waltham, who owns the club's Dunswell Park ground and was last involved in the NCEL with Hull United before co-founding Carnegie and then becoming owner of North Ferriby United.
In a statement, Reader, who was also club secretary and treasurer, said his decision to resign was done with a "heavy heart" but had to be taken for "many reasons" including work and family commitments.
He also paid tribute to the management team of Leon Sewell, Chris Burke, Chris Shenton and Charlie Clucas who had guided the club to its highest ever finish, thirteenth in Division One, adding: "The journey has been very tiring but yet rewarding few years but the saying is 'All good things must come to an end'.
"Since my written resignation, we had been searching to fulfil the roles of chairman, secretary and treasurer and originally did have some interested parties but, after various meetings, these were deemed not suitable in what I believe the club has become and the reputation it has built.
"We are all aware the club originally was created by myself and Jamie Waltham until he took over at North Ferriby. The club (North Ferriby) has since gone into liquidation and therefore will no longer exist.
"I spoke with Jamie at length regarding the future of East Yorkshire Carnegie and the possibilities of him being involved with East Yorkshire Carnegie to help build and sustain the club.
"Therefore, he has agreed to become chairman for next season and ensure the club are represented not only at NCEL level but throughout the whole club.
"With this in mind, we also discussed options to help develop and to grow the club in numbers and stature, and therefore suggested a change of name to represent the area in which East Yorkshire Carnegie play.
"We have therefore agreed and informed the league and local East Riding County FA of not only the personnel changes and structure of East Yorkshire Carnegie that Jamie Waltham will become chairman and Dave Reader will resign from all positions within the club, but will now play their football under the name of East Hull FC".
