Robins show Christmas goodwill to Selby Disability Footballers

3rd December, 2018

Selby Town chairman Ralph Pearse has invited every Selby Disability Football Club player to his club's Toolstation NCEL Division One clash with Harworth Colliery on Saturday, writes Non League Yorkshire.

The Fairfax Plant Hire Stadium doors are being flung open free of charge for the players, who will also get a complementary mince pie from Ralph.

They will also get to meet Selby's promotion-chasing first team players and, weather-permitting, take part in a penalty shootout before kick-off.

Ralph said: "It is Christmas and the season of goodwill and I'm looking forward to seeing James' players down at Selby Town again.

"They had a fantastic time at Selby Town for the their presentation night last week and I'm delighted to invite them to a match. We're going to make sure they have a great time.

"We are a community club and this gesture proves that we are once again.

"When I'm driving around Selby and when I see James' players wearing their fantastic Selby DFC tops I always say to myself that we'll do anything for them at Selby Town. They are a great bunch of people."

Selby manager Christian Fox is also looking forward to seeing our players again having presented the awards at the presentation evening.

Christian said: "The presentation night was a brilliant event for them and I'm really pleased that we're going to have them here for a match.

"Hopefully we can also entertain them with a great performance and a win on-the-field."

The Selby Disability Football Club is run in partnership between Inspiring healthy lifestyles (Selby Leisure Centre) and NLY Community Sport. The team trains at Selby College on a Thursday evening between 6pm and 7pm during the winter.

Last week, NLY's James Grayson shaved his head to raise money for Selby DFC team, as well as Nostell MW DFC, Pontefract Pirates Juniors and Children in Need.

Nearly ?500 has been raised in online and cash donations. You can donate to the cause HERE.
