Camm stands down as Shirebrook Town boss
24th October, 2018
Lee Widdowson and Alan Widdowson have taken over as joint-managers of Toolstation NCEL Division One side Shirebrook Town following Rob Camm's decision to step down.
The pair, who make the move up from assistants, accepted the job offer from the club's committee who had met to discuss the matter on Monday night and had decided not to advertise the position.
A statement from the Langwith Road outfit said that Camm, whose second spell in charge began in June after a brief spell away from the club, had resigned following Saturday's home 3-2 defeat to Ollerton Town due to personal reasons.
It added: "All at Shirebrook Town FC would like to thank Cammy for everything he's done for the club over the last eighteen months and we hope that he doesn't venture to far from the Langwith Road Ground in the near future. We wish him all the best.
"The club are fully behind Lee and Alan and will do all we can to ensure the club still continues to move forward and rebuild. We have a great set of lads who all have the club at heart."
Camm added: "Over the last eighteen months I've enjoyed some great times as Shirebrook Town manager.
"My decision to step down is solely a personal decision and one that I've taken my time to make.
"I can't thank the committee and (temporary chairman) Aimee (Radford) in particular enough for all the help they have given me especially over the last four months.
"I would like to continue to offer my help to the club in any way I can, but just feel it's the right time for me to take a break and to let someone else look at things with a fresh view.
"The club is going in the right direction and the squad is young enough and talented enough to keep progressing.
"Thank you to the players that have represented the club under me and to the supporters who have given us their backing throughout."
The Widdowsons will be in charge of their first game on Saturday when Shirebrook travel to Glasshoughton Welfare.
