Emley AFC's lead at the top of the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division has grown to five points as the title race swung further in their favour over the weekend.A 5-0 win for the Pewits, coupled with a 2-2 draw between the two sides immediately below them,
Campion and
Garforth Town, means they need a maximum of five points from their remaining five games to be crowned champions.
Iyrwah Gooden struck twice in the victory at
Barton Town with James Walshaw, Ross Hardaker and Joseph Kenny also adding to their tally to capitalise on the perfect result for them in the second versus third clash that took place on Friday night.
Third-placed Garforth, who are now mathematically out of the title race but are now almost certain of a play-off spot, twice led through Sam Barker and Jordan Emery.
But, Michael O'Brien and Aidan Kirby restored parity for Campion whose hopes of a late challenge for top spot took a blow with only three games left in their season.
Rossington Main are up to fourth in the chase for the play-offs as Lewis Archer netted both of their goals in a 2-0 victory at
Bottesford Town, leapfrogging
Albion Sports who drop to fifth.
The Lions scored an equaliser through Robbie Fox but late goals from Reagan Waud and Brice Ghussein ensured a 3-1 home victory for
Goole AFC in a massive three points in their battle for survival as they move up to eighteenth, now eight points clear of danger.
Thackley are just outside the play-off zone in sixth, four points away from Sports after Ben Grech-Brooksbank and Finn Donovan scored in their 2-0 win at
Knaresborough Town.
Penistone Church drop to seventh as they were twice pegged back on their travels by a resilient
Maltby Main, Haydn Ward and Marc Newsham both restoring parity for the home side after Ryan Johnson and then Antony Brown had given Church the lead.
Maltby remain in the basement, seven points away from safety with four games left to play.
There were away victories for
Handsworth,
Hallam and
Eccleshill United with Aaron Moxam and Brandon Bagley's early strikes enough for Handsworth's 2-1 win at
Golcar United.
Luca Defalco grabbed the only goal of the game as Hallam triumphed at
Pickering Town who fall to nineteenth.
Cole Roberts netted twice for Eccleshill as they beat hosts
Silsden AFC 4-1 to move up to seventeenth and almost seal their place in the Premier Division next season.
And, there was a goalless draw between
Frickley Athletic and their visitors
Tadcaster Albion.
Shirebrook Town remain three points clear at the top of Division One, Danny South and Bradley Kerr with the goals in their 2-1 win at
Dronfield Town whilst Callum Mawbey scored an equaliser for the hosts.
Second-placed
Wakefield AFC keep within touching distance as they won 3-1 at home to another title challenger
Parkgate.
Sebastian Losa's opener for the hosts was cancelled out at the start of the second period by Ross Duggan but a Jaydan Sandhu penalty and a Slater Barkham-Barnes strike earned Wakefield all three points.
Parkgate drop to fifth having suffered back-to-back defeats for the first time in over a year but, although the gap between themselves and Shirebrook has grown to twelve points, they still have seven games in hand of the top side to mount their title challenge.
Beverley Town are third, four points off the summit with three games more to play than Shirebrook, after Joe McFadyen's double secured a 2-0 home win over
Wombwell Town whose play-off ambitions took a knock.
Gregg Smith struck in the fifth minute to ensure a 1-0 home victory for
Retford United over
Nostell Miners Welfare and they climb above Parkgate into fourth.
Outside the play-off zone,
Horbury Town are up to sixth, four points away from the top five, after they won 2-1 at
Athersley Recreation, James Cusworth with both of their goals.
At the foot of the table,
Ollerton Town's 3-0 defeat at
Yorkshire Amateur means a place in the relegation zone is now confirmed for the Nottinghamshire side.
Ousainey Juwara Kota scored twice and Liam Parker also netted for the Ammers whose own survival hopes were given a massive boost as they move to six points clear of the drop zone.
Armthorpe Welfare also claimed a big victory, 4-1 at home to
Worsbrough Bridge Athletic, to put further space between themselves and danger.
They conceded early on through Connor Glavin but second half goals from Jack Varley, Adam Baskerville, Jack Holden and Charlie Clegg gave them the win that puts them eight points above the trapdoor.
Next-to-bottom
Swallownest are now on the verge of having their relegation zone place confirmed as they were beaten 5-3 at
Harrogate Railway Athletic, meaning they need to win all of their remaining six games to have any chance of escaping.
They gave it their all with goals from Ashley McEwan, Alex Wonham and James Hardeman but the Rail climb to eleventh following their victory that came courtesy of one each from Murray Gibb, Jacob Robertson, Alex Clark, Mike Morris and Lucas Umpleby.
Glasshoughton Welfare are the other side in the drop zone and they saw the gap grow between themselves and Yorkshire Amateur after they went down 4-2 at
