Toolstation NCEL Match Review 2023/24 #57

14th February, 2024

Garforth Town have leapt up into the play-off zone in the Toolstation NCEL Premier Division with a 2-1 win at top-five side Rossington Main in midweek.

The Miners replace their hosts in fourth spot following the victory that came courtesy of goals from Jordan Emery and Matthew Antcliff with Joe Parkin grabbing a 69th minute consolation for Main who drop to fifth.

Thackley stay third, narrowing the gap to the top two to ten points, after a 1-1 draw at bottom side Maltby Main.

The home side got off to the perfect start as Oliver McQuillin gave them a third minute lead as they looked for the victory that would move them to within a point of safety.

But, Finn Donovan made sure the spoils were shared with his equaliser on 37 minutes.

Silsden AFC climb to eighth after their single goal victory at home to Tadcaster Albion, Harry Thompson with the vital strike just after the hour mark, and the Cobbydalers are now just seven points away from the play-off zone.

And, four goals from Kieran Stares helped Pickering Town to a 5-4 win over visitors Barton Town, Paul Young grabbing the other Pikes goal whilst the Swans' tally came from a Reece Moody double and one each for William Waudby and Harrison Coley in a highly entertaining game.

Wakefield AFC have returned to the top of Division One after a 1-1 draw at one of their title rivals Parkgate, Mason Rubie's 68th minute leveller cancelling out Silas Valladolid-Collins' first half strike for the hosts.

Parkgate drop to fourth, replaced in third by Shirebrook Town who won 3-0 against Clay Cross Town in a game that they were the away team but the venue had been switched to Langwith Road.

Kieren Watson struck early on to break the deadlock and late goals from Carlton Carty and Kiyani Clayton sealed the victory.

Retford United are up into the play-off zone after goals from Adam Chapman, Liam Owen, Danny Deakin and Mark West secured a 4-0 win at Armthorpe Welfare.

And, an injury-time winner from Nathan Wilson-Fleming saw Horbury Town triumph 3-2 at home to Wombwell Town who drop out of the top five.

Rikki Paylor struck twice for the visitors who had looked to have taken a point whilst James Cusworth bagged the other two goals for Horbury who stay seventh and are six points behind the play-off spots.

Meanwhile, Beverley Town took the lead through a fourth minute strike from Joe McFadyen but bowed out of the East Riding Senior Cup at the Quarter-Finals stage as they were beaten 2-1 by Sculcoates Amateurs in a game that was played at the Roy West Centre in Hull.
