The first team through to the Third Round of this season's JCP Construction League Cup are Pickering Town after their morale-boosting 4-1 home victory over Golcar United in midweek.

Kieran Stares netted twice for the Pikes with one each from Robert Guilfoyle and Nathan Dyer bolstering their tally whilst Isaac Acquah grabbed a consolation for the visitors on the hour mark.

In the Premier Division, Emley AFC were denied a chance of moving to within two points of the summit as they were held to a goalless draw at home by Handsworth who climb up to sixth whilst the Pewits stay fourth.

Frickley Athletic, meanwhile, were 8-0 winners at Goole AFC with two goals apiece for Brandon Murillo and Alhassane Keita as Lloyd Smith, Keanen Mannings, Lewis Binns and Eliel Anku also netted in a game that saw the away side race into a four goal lead by the nineteenth minute.

And, Maltby Main are up to fifteenth following their 1-0 home victory over Knaresborough Town, Matthew Reay with the breakthrough on 38 minutes, whilst their opponents remain in tenth spot.

Division One leaders Wombwell Town tasted defeat at home for the first time this season as they went down to a single-goal loss to Retford United, Lewis Macaskill with the breakthrough with a quarter-of-an-hour remaining.

Wombwell's lead at the top is reduced to two points after second-placed Beverley Town's 1-1 draw at Shirebrook Town, Harry Griffin's goals for the Beavers cancelled out late on for the hosts by Kieren Watson.

Retford United move above Shirebrook into sixth with the Derbyshire side dropping down to seventh.

Nathan Hawkhead, Cameron Barnett and Jaydan Sandhu scored for Wakefield AFC in their 3-1 victory at bottom side Swallownest and they move up into third whilst Parkgate are now fourth following their 1-0 home win over Staveley Miners Welfare, Jamie Austin with the vital strike in the nineteenth minute.

A 2-2 draw at home for Retford FC against Selby Town sees the Choughs up to ninth as they twice had to come from behind to level with the visiting Robins, Steven Wankiewicz ensuring the spoils were shared with their second equaliser on 85 minutes.

Horbury Town came from behind to win 2-1 at Glasshoughton Welfare, Abdual Asamoah with the winner early in the second period.

Dronfield Town were 5-0 victors over visitors Ollerton Town, courtesy of goals from Mark Fereday, Max Rhodes, Callum Mawbey, Thomas Staniland and Samuel Bebbington.

And, Michael Jepps and Elliot Wilson were the scorers for Worsbrough Bridge Athletic as they won 2-0 at home to Harrogate Railway Athletic.

In the midweek County Cup action, Barton Town went through in their Lincolnshire Senior Trophy First Round tie at home with Deeping Rangers, Thomas Waudby and Matthew Clayton netting for the Swans in a 2-2 draw before the hosts prevailed 4-1 in the penalty shoot-out.

Louth Town, however, bowed out in the same competition with a 2-1 loss at Lincoln United, Oliver Kendall with a late consolation for the White Wolves, whilst Brigg Town were also beaten, going down 4-0 at home to Skegness Town.

Antony Brown grabbed a stoppage time winner for Penistone Church as they beat visitors Houghton Main 2-1 in the Second Round of the Sheffield & Hallamshire Senior Cup.

Scott Ruthven and Ashley Flynn were the scorers for Hallam as they were beaten 5-2 at Stocksbridge Park Steels and Albion Sports were denied in injury time by visitors Liversedge in the West Riding County Cup.

Eivind Johnsen struck twice early on for the Lions and Robbie Fox also found the net but Sports ultimately went down 4-3 in a closely-fought First Round tie.
