24th August, 2023

Goole AFC and Emley AFC were both winners in midweek to make it four Toolstation NCEL teams through to the First Round Qualifying stage of this season's Emirates FA Cup.

Goole had to wait until stoppage time to make a breakthrough at home to Irlam, Reece Kral with the last gasp strike that earned them a 1-0 victory in their Preliminary Round replay.

Emley, meanwhile, defeated hosts Lower Breck 5-1 in their Preliminary Round tie, Iyrwah Gooden's hat-trick and a James Walshaw brace sending the Pewits through to the next stage alongside the Vikings, Albion Sports and Tadcaster Albion.

In the Premier Division, Knaresborough Town kept up their perfect start to the season, making it five wins out of five with a 4-2 home victory over Garforth Town.

Ewan Gregson's double added to their tally after Dominic Creamer and Cameron Bedford had struck either side of the interval to turn around a game that had seen Garforth lead 2-0 with goals from Matthew Antcliff and Harry Viggars.

Knaresbrough leapfrogged Campion who drop to second following their first defeat of the campaign, Marcus Day getting their goal in a 2-1 loss at Silsden AFC with Kayle Price getting both for the hosts who are now tenth.

A Lewis Waddington hat-trick helped Albion Sports to a 7-2 home win over neighbours Eccleshill United to keep the Lions' excellent start to the season going.

Robbie Fox struck twice and there was one each for Hass Gorji and Eivind Johnsen in the victory that lifts Sports into third whilst Eccleshill's goals came from Talent Ndlovu and Jamal Stewart.

Hallam were 2-0 up in their derby at Handsworth thanks to Bradley Beatson and Kieren Watson - his 100th goal for the club - but Mitchell Dunne pounced twice and Aaron Moxam grabbed a winner for the home side as it ended 3-2 to the Ambers.

Hallam drop to fourth in the table whilst Handsworth are now seventh.

Barton Town are up into the top six after Thomas Waudby's brace and one each from Fraser Papprill and Elliott Vasalo saw them claim a comfortable 4-0 home victory against Lincolnshire rivals Bottesford Town.

Buddy Cox struck twice in the opening ten minutes to secure Golcar United a 2-1 win over visitors Thackley whilst Wayne Kitula repeated the feat in Pickering Town's 3-2 home victory against Tadcaster Albion.

And, Rossington Main came from behind to win 3-1 on their own patch against Maltby Main, Ross Hannah's equaliser added to by strikes from Liam King and Harry Shepard.

In the midweek's only Division One game, Worsbrough Bridge Athletic are up to eighth following their 3-1 home win over Ollerton Town.

Connor Glavin's opener for the hosts was cancelled out by a Harry Hurst goal for the visitors but Glavin restored his side's lead from the penalty spot and Thomas Cadzow made sure of the victory in stoppage time.

Meanwhile, Retford FC bowed out of the Notts Senior Cup at the First Round stage as they went down 4-0 at former NCEL side Sherwood Colliery.
